Get started

  1. Create a free account at app.buffsheets.com.
  2. Download BuffSheets-Setup.exe from the download page (Windows only).
  3. Run the installer. It’s a per-user install — admin rights are not required.
  4. If Windows SmartScreen appears, choose More info → Run anyway when you downloaded from BuffSheets.
  5. Open BuffSheets from the Start menu, then open or attach an Excel workbook.
  6. On-device models work with Ollama (optional). Hosted cloud models use the same account you signed in with.

How changes work

BuffSheets plans work as discrete actions and applies them as they run. Use Accept to confirm items in the review list and Reject to undo. An audit log sheet records what was applied so you can review history.

Common issues

BuffSheets won’t start / engine not ready

  • Wait for the splash screen to finish starting the local engine.
  • Confirm nothing else is blocking port 8765 on your machine.
  • Restart BuffSheets from the Start menu. If it still fails, reinstall from the download page.

Excel workbook not found or not attached

  • Open the workbook in desktop Excel (Windows), or browse for a file from BuffSheets.
  • Excel Online and Mac are not supported in v1.
  • Close and reopen Excel if COM attach fails after Excel crashed.

In-app update failed

  • Updates download a signed installer from BuffSheets and verify the signature before install.
  • If an update fails, re-download from app.buffsheets.com/download and run the installer manually.

Hosted model errors or out of allowance

  • Sign in with the same account used on app.buffsheets.com.
  • Check remaining usage and plan under Account → Billing.
  • Upgrade Pro or Max when you need more hosted capacity, or use an on-device model via Ollama.

Billing or subscription

  • Manage plan changes and invoices from your account billing page (Stripe-powered).
  • If you were charged but your plan still shows Free, email support with the account email and approximate charge time — we’ll reconcile with Stripe.

Privacy & data choices

  • On-device models: workbook content stays on your computer.
  • Hosted models: selected context is sent to your chosen model provider via BuffSheets.
  • Request logging for product improvement is on by default; you can opt out in account privacy/settings.
